Have a HAPPY SUMMER!
Children's Sunday School begins at 10:00 am
We hope to see you there!
Hi! I hope everyone is enjoying these summer months. Maybe summer means more outside activities for you – more time at the park, hiking, or days at the beach. Many people use the summer for taking trips and going on vacation. For most educators though, summer is when we reflect on the previous year. We look at the year and think about the lessons we covered and how “successful” each of these lessons were. We analyze what went “wrong” in some and why others were so wonderful. The bottom line is we want to be sure that we are giving the kids lessons that are not only valuable and meaningful, but also creative and fun at the same time. I know we can’t always have fun and games the whole time, sometimes we need to focus on serious issues, but if the lessons are so boring and dull, then the students will get nothing out of them anyway; we want our lessons to leave such an impression that they will last and be remembered. I have been taking a lot of time this past June to reflect on my own lessons and what I can do better. I’ve been researching new curriculum and creating many new documents that will help me better organize and plan for our activities, and of course, the children have been helping me with their input as well.
In June, we focused on our Father and what he wants from us and ways we can please Him. Yes, we are talking about God. The children memorized the verse in Isaiah 64:8, “Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand.” We practiced The Lord’s Prayer, which some children are great at and others are still working on, and we learned a few new songs. The children really enjoyed one particular song, “Lord I want to be a Christian” and we used this song to look at ourselves and the ways WE can be as God wants us to be… “more Christian”, “more loving”, “more holy”, and “more like Jesus”.
Below are our events and activities for July. Feel free to join us at any time. Also, just a reminder to dust off those recipes and get them submitted, we are hoping to have enough participation to get a First Christian Church cookbook made.

Change my heart, Oh God, make it ever true
Change my heart, Oh, God, may I be like You
You are the Potter, I am the clay
Mould me and make me, this is what I pray
Change my heart, Oh God, make it ever true
Change my heart, Oh, God, may I be like You
